Upon recognising the limited regional training, resources, and opportunity for intentional sharing of on-the-job learning for university counsellors in the region, co-founders Tannaz Daver and Sean McAuley began Global University Counsellor Connect in 2015.

The duo quickly introduced the concept to school-based counsellors in Singapore, identifying a larger network able to support colleagues in the region. What began as a conversation about sole university counsellors, lacking access to professional development or a supportive network became a successful two-day regional workshop, bringing together university counsellors from over 15 countries.
